Interactive art project, Delete by Haiku, is a mobile application and art installation. The group of researchers have developed the project: artist, designer and programmer. Our focus with this project is to explore confluence of art, design and technology to create thrilling aesthetic experiences through the process of creating and deleting. By creasing the application we gained evocative insights, which might be of important relevance to the field of media art, interactive art, interaction design, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). We explored deletion and creation of digital data through artistic practice, called haiku – a technique of traditional Japanese poetry. We have opened up a design space in the hands-on workshop through art technique to explore possibilities of the medium to interaction design implications. Our focus lays on transformations from different sizes and combinations of personal data into more compressed expressions. Inspired by the connotation “deletion as human forgetting” we want to engage users in creative processes through recycling aesthetics.
